Boldt Castle, located on Heart Island in the St. Lawrence River’s 1000 Islands near Alexandria Bay, NY, is one of the most sought after wedding venues in New York. The Thousand Islands Bridge Authority (TIBA) is proud to offer this picturesque wedding venue to couples uniting in marriage or seeking a renewal of vows. From its very conception Boldt Castle’s historic halls and grounds were filled with romance. Built in 1900 by George Boldt as a tribute to the love he felt for his wife Louise, today it remains a testament to their enduring love story. Surrounding the 19th century home are numerous gardens containing thousands of flowers as well as several stone structures of the same era, including the Gazebo, Alster Tower, Dove Cote and the Powerhouse. Ceremonies are typically located at the Dove-Cote, allowing brides to make a grand entrance out of Boldt Castle itself. This section of the grounds, commonly called the courtyard, also overlooks the St. Lawrence River from three directions. Boldt Castle can provide the fairy tale setting, and unforgettable memories that every bride dreams of on their wedding day.

Below is a list of frequently asked questions related to weddings at Boldt Castle. We hope that they answer any question you may have about holding a ceremony at our facility, but if you have any further concerns or wish to reserve a date please contact us using the information listed below.

Q: What is the cost of a wedding on Heart Island?

A: There is a $200.00 site reservation fee (paid upon reservation) plus the cost of admittance for your guests; $8.50 for adults, $6.00 for children 6-12, 5 and under are free (paid upon visit) however, any wedding reservations made for a Saturday falling between June 14th and September 6th 2014 must include a minimum purchase of fifty (50) non-refundable admission tickets. This advanced purchase will be applied to your guests visit on that day.  If you only use a portion of the 50 the remaining tickets will be issued to you as they can be used anytime within two years of the issue date.  Additional tickets may be purchased on the day of your ceremony as well, if needed. This process has been made necessary due to a large number of recurring cancelations resulting in empty primetime wedding dates on these Saturdays. In addition, these cancelations prevent couples who earnestly want to hold a wedding ceremony at historic Boldt Castle from doing so.

It should be noted that weddings can take place any day of the week at Boldt Castle for any dates other than the aforementioned Saturdays, the minimum purchase of fifty (50) tickets will not be applied.

Note: In the event of a peak season (Saturday) wedding cancellation all admission tickets purchased will be valid for two years and can be used anytime during regular operating hours however, refunds will not be issued. Q: Can my guests pay for themselves?

A: The party that signs the contract is responsible to pay for admittance of all guests on that day. Payment can be made with cash, major credit or debit cards.

Q: How long do I have for my ceremony?

A: Each ceremony is allotted 1 and ½ hours, it is important that you understand that when your scheduled time ends your party must move off the wedding site.

Q: Where exactly will the ceremony take place?

A: All ceremonies are scheduled for the Dove-Cote located in the courtyard next to the Italian Gardens, in the event of rain ceremonyies will be held on the covered veranda at the main Castle. Boldt Facilities Management also reserves the right to change wedding locations on any day for any reason including but not limited to: planned or unplanned rehabilitation projects, public safety, etc…

Q: What about decorations and music?

A: Biodegradable decorations are allowed but you must set them up and take them down during your allotted time. Music can be played through our Public Address (PA) system via an mp3 player provided and operated by a wedding guest or musicians can be hired by the wedding party to perform at the site.

Q: What are the responsibilities of Boldt Castle/TIBA to provide for my ceremony?

A: We will provide, set up and take down seating for guests, changing room for the attendants, power and public address system at the site upon request.

Q: What about photographs after the Ceremony?

A: At no time will pictures be allowed inside the main Castle, but you are entitled to full access of the surrounding grounds and buildings filled with gardens and statuary until the close of business on that day.

Q: What about transportation?

A: Boldt Castle is located on an Island and does not schedule nor provide transportation for wedding parties or guests. Typically there is additional costs for transportation that is not included in our pricing.

Q: Can I hold my reception on the Island?

A: Boldt Castle does not have the facilities to host a reception but there are many options for such an event in the 1000 Islands.

Q: If I cancel can I get a refund?

A: After the confirmation of your reservation no refunds will be made.
